While I'm sure Sony would like to see wifi in many games, it's really not up to them in the end. When the developers make the game, they would most likely be responsible to implement and support the feature. In many cases, that is probably to much of a cost factor when dealing with a portable in their minds. Ad-hoc is an easy and probably more cost efficient way of providing multiplayer action.I guess this means that Sony doesn't put ...
You know that only one of those three you listed is a Sony game, right? :?

I really hate this kind of talk.Trying to get a game like Dissidia or Soul to run smoothly online on the PSP isn't easy. In fact, it might be impossible. Heck, SCIV has lag issues all over the place. I'd rather not have it.

Originally a development group within Sony Computer Entertainment, the creators of ''Gran Turismo '' established Polyphony Digital Inc. in 1998.
This past month alone we have seen three highly anticipated games (Dissidia, Soulcalibur, and Gran Turismo) be released to find out that none of them will have online play. Sure they have ad-hoc but what about the many PSP owners like me whose friends don't have PSP's. These are three big games that would easily have have been much bigger sucesses if wifi was an option. I'm not saying that these are bad games by any means because I honestly haven't tried them yet but wifi certainly have been a huge bonus.
Thats Sony's way of saying ''GET A PS3'' :x
I don't mind too much. Ad-Hoc Party anyone? :P
It's no excuse, but games that I would really want to have infra (Motorstorm, SOCOM, Retribution) have it.
Ok I guess that Sony isn't to blame but come on publishers. Your number 1 goal is to sell as many games as possible. Adding wifi to the equation would certainly help.

(soul calibur and dissidia)
wifi isnt a neccesity, its a welcomed addition to the game that if given enough time to work on a gamer, the developers would have included it. It cost too much for developers (especially on the psp and other handhelds) to include infrastructure because you have to program that setting (which takes another team of programmers and more time and money). Also they have to invest in a dedicated server which if only a game sales 100,000 games and only 10,000 ever try the multi, and really only 100-500 are dedicated to using it, then its a waste of an investment
