does anyone only own the psp and no home ...

thats pretty much why im trolling this section. im researching the psp because i am ungodly sick of my ps3 and am not looking forward to any future games for it that have been announced. my biggest concern is the psp is like 5 years old and based on old technology as well as it only has 1 analog stick so its not good for first person shooters which was the only thing the ps3 for me had going for it. but my pc can make up for it. its just the games these days are more casual so its more enjoyable on console. still im thinking about getting rid of my ps3 and just owning a psp and any other new one that comes after it be psp or another brand of portable. whatever is best. anyone else like have a busy life or something so they just own the psp for fun on the go or are you guys just so addicted to games you have to get your fix everywhere? im thinking an online rpg like psp2 and a racer can hold me over. maybe just maybe a fps. i only play casually so it doesnt matter as long as the game's mildly enjoyable.

i think the next portable should be powerful enough to replace home consoles kind of like laptops can replace most desktop pcs just not quite as powerful.does anyone only own the psp and no home ...
I started this gen with just a PSP after selling most my previous consoles and packing away the others. It wasn't long until I was looking for more. I couldn't get all the games I was looking for.does anyone only own the psp and no home ...
i bought the ps3 for killzone 2 which was insanely ridiculous and i think it has almost no replay value. it just seemed to get lamer the more stuff i unlocked. i then went out and started buyin games i had no desire to play on the pc like call of duty and rainbow six vegas 2. they are so repetitive online lol. it hurts my brain. im mainly an online player. i only play games with stories i think actually send a message and make you think so yeah not many in that department. i dont wanna hear tv show level stories. but i did like wipeout fury to an extent. elimination reminds me of unreal tournament. it has very similar weapons that combined with the racing isnt too bad. i dont see many games with any depth. really dont want to get into the upcoming mmos for the ps3 or the tons upon tons of action adventure games.ive been playing cod4 for the last 3 hours and i dont even like it i dont even know whats going on. its such a mindless game. no thinking. no selfawareness. just chaos. i can get more from pacman.
PSP has some of the best games in the library. Like Monster hunter, gta, and more. Yeah the 1 stick is a problem but it's fine without it. It's pretty good considering it's a handheld. You can even watch movies while on the go.
Hmm.. I don't think that replacing PS3 with PSP is a good idea. If you like playing online, PSP has few games, but most of them are hacked (Killzone, MOH, Resistance).. Yes - playing your favorite games anywhere makes this handheld system very tempting. But almost every game is very short (6-8 hours) and then everything depends on replay content... I think that PSP was created in different purposes than PS3, therefore those systems cannot be compared/replaced. I suggest you to save some money and buy PSP as an extension of PS3. It's end of the summer and everyone want to breathe fresh air, go on a trip or meet with friends - PSP is a great console for that. But sometimes you want to relax in your chair in front of 32inch display, sixaxis in your hand and with great, long lasting, beautiful looking game .. Here PSP is not the best solution.. You can't play it on TV. Even if you have a TV cable - game screen is so small that you'd rather play it directly on PSP. And - playing with your friend/brother/sister (whatever) is a matter of additional pad (not additional console..). Think about PSP as an extension to your PS3 system.. ;)
I see the psp as a back up/secondary gaming experience. I got a wii and xbox and only play psp/ds when i'm on the road or right before I go to bed.
I primarily use my psp. I don't own neither a PS3 nor an Xbox 360. (although i use my pc a lot) Most gamers i know prefer next-gen consoles , however...So , it really depends on you.If you think you can replace the HD with ps2-like graphics , then yes. I don't find psp games that short. Most have amazing replay value. And with the upcoming titles ,psp seems really great...
I own a PS3 ( Xbox 360 before that ) and a PSP and I can say that the PSP has provided me more fun than the PS3 and the upcoming games ( even though most are not exclusives ) for the PSP seems like more fun, so in no way is it a secondary console for me, it is more like the opposite.PS the PSP mini games will be exclusives and I am looking forward to play them.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I only have a psp and have co-owned a ps3 when my brother is home from college. I only play my psp and I think its wonderful. Being 22 and busy with school and work, I like the bite size missions on patapon, killzone: lib, and the GTA series. But when I do like to play for a while I put in disgaea. Also I use it a lot for movies when Im at work and have time to kill. Or for music when Im walking on campus. All in all if you buy and use your psp to its full capablilities (i used remote play a few times too and have a rss feed for a few sites) then you will not be disappointed.
Well this is an interesting topic.. I was wondering the same myself, can u live only with a handheld? Two weeks ago I went on a business trip so I spent a week away from home so I obviously took my psp with me and I must say this system can hold its own, I had to purchase some games (resistance, patapon and untold legends) because I have played all that I owned but once I had fresh games on my hands I realized that this is a very good system that in fact could replace a home console but all this is in the event that you have a somewhat busy schedule because If you actually have free time for gaming then you may start feeling the gamesare a littlelackluster in comparison with those on consoles or pc.For surethis is by far the best handheld I've owned from a technical point of view(i sold my DS a couple of months after buying the psp) and it has a very solid library of games with many more coming out.So too sum things up I would sey that you actually CAN live only with a psp but it all depends on your lifestyle and you're preference in games
well one things for sure the ps3 was a mistake for me. i know what i like which is why i never bought a 360 or ps3 till killzone 2. killzone 2 tricked me into thinking it was some kind of revoltuionary tactical shooter. it turned out to be another braindead casual shooter. i just replaced most of my gaming with old revolutionary games on the pc that are still better than most casual games that come out now but its a little lame to be playing games that came out so long ago still.i should have traded in the ps3 before that damn slim came out and reduced the value of it by 100 bucks. i think id be satisfied with wipeout pulse, phantasy star portable 2 (when it comes out), and maybe a simple fps game like coded arms or something or fighter like tekken but i want all my games to have online support. not to say im just gonna buy these games try them first of course and i know they are much simpler than ps3 variants but still they are all casual games at the end of the day anyway. maybe im over thinknig this and maybe i should wait for a new version of the playstation portable as its a little over half iits 10 year lifespan i think now? I dont know. Ill probably just go ahead and do it anyway for the lulz. oh and i got to remember little kids own the psp. they love to use cheats. i know their perspective i used to cheat whenever possible too but these days its not about that its just getting my fix because i cant stop playing video games even though sometimes i want to quit cold turkey. its just not realistic lol. but quiting console and pc games is something id really like to finally do.My PCs are still powerful enough to play modern games coming out but i no longer wish to upgrade them anymore. I was going to play the new starcraft ii and diablo iii and maybe a few other games but i no longer have it in me. I've become a casual gamer. i really cant believe it happened to me. i used to play nothing but the nerdiest games that consumed most of my free time. it makes me sick these days to play games like that now.No point sitting in stagnation might as well just do it instead of thinking about it for weeks like i did before i got the ps3 only to be pissed off lol.

As far as I remember, Tekken doesn't have online support (only ranking with downloadable ghosts), Wipeout Pulse has always empty servers, in Killzone you can find 4-5 people playing it online (not always)..

For me, online gaming was very important when I was buying PSP. But it turned out that PSP is not a very good platform for online gaming (infrastructure). It was created mainly for ad-hoc mode and this is just brilliant! :) Many games have only ad-hoc mode (ie. MHU).

thats a shame about wipeout. i looked up a killzone video some dude was hacking it to pieces lol.does coded arms have people on it? any other good online shooters fighters or racers?
I only own the psp and no home consoles. I did have a ps2 but it broke. I like the psp in all ways is why.

I am neither a casual or a core gamer but something between.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't have any of the new gen consoles. I only have a psp and a crappy laptop, and honestly they pretty mcuh satisfy my gaming needs. With school, sports, drinking theres not that much time to play video games. but the psp is nice to have on the bus, although I havent bought any games in a while except for FFVII off the PSN store. But in the near futur there seems to be a few good games coming out.A psp doesnt really replace a ps3 though...

Broading your horizons and try other games. Hey I didn't like RPGs and I let gamers persuade me to finally try one and I liked it. I only have a PSP, don't own a stupid Ipod, don't own a home system (love my electric bill) The PSP is a really neat device. As far as being 5 years old, it reaches that mark in 2010 of March. Old Techology?? That is the stupidest thing you could say man. A Reel to Reel and Phonograph player is old technology. Don't be a bratty teenager man. We are only in Generation 7. I started gaming in Generation 3, stopped during Generation 4 and recently got back during Generation 6 (PS2)...so this old techology rubbish would only come from an impatient child. I do not know what the future holds, but I do know that I do enjoy the PSP as a device. I have no need for a home system. Its all game play.
