Why cant i kill monsters in monster Hunt ...

Ive been playing the monster hunter demo on my psp, and i cant figure out how to finish off the monsters when they are down on the ground. For example, When i slice up the Hyponautrice with my long sword, it falls down and i continue to beat the crap out of it, but then it just gets up! HELP PLZZZWhy cant i kill monsters in monster Hunt ...
just because the monster falls to the ground doesnt mean its about to die, it means you hit its leg enough to trip it, just keep doing what you are doing, you'll know when its dead.Why cant i kill monsters in monster Hunt ...
I just wanna add: keep fighting, I hated the first 4-6 hours of the game (maybe more) now I dont hate it :P
Them falling down normally implies you've just hit them in the leg enough. All the monsters in this game are tough to tackle the first few times until you learn their quirks. I don't know what's available in the demo, but as a general rule, make sure you prepare for a hunt, taking potions and traps as required and ont give up! Some of the fights in this game can last upwards of 10-15 minutes of hammering before you finally down it...Another hint, keep your weapon sharp using the Whetstones, a dull weapon will bounce off and not do any damage. Likewise, if your weapon is bouncing off regardless you're trying to hit an armoured part of the beasty, try hitting somewhere else, some monsters are very resilient to damage in certain areas.

the akantor can even take almost the whole time limit, takes me about 20 by myself lol, and maybe you meant it wouldnt do as much damage but when your sword bounces it does do damage it just gets dulled quicker and gets a slight downfall on attack, but in the demo they give you godly weapons and godly armor I guess just so if you are new to the game, you will enjoy it as opposed to starting off with the bone katana lol, anyway just keep beating that hypnoc it will die
